The renovation will begin with the addition of a detached garage.  The garage will be 30’ x 26’ and will have a floored 2nd level that is high enough to walk around in.  The garage will appear to be a miniature version of our existing barn, with differences such as carriage style twin garage doors.  The garage will also feature a 3rd garage door in the back corner to allow for easy access to the lawn mower and other items stored in the back of the garage.  As in our existing garage/workshop, the garage will  be equipped with a workshop sink with both cold and hot water.  One of my favorite features of the garage will be the outdoor shower (also with hot water) to allow for rinsing off dirt and sand before entering the house.


In addition to the new garage, we will also be keeping the front few feet of our existing workshop.  This portion is being retained to house the water softener and pump in a small soundproofed room, and to maintain easy access to the trash cans, recycle bins, and cat litter.  The workshop will now be accessible through a new door from the laundry room.

Corgan’s Bedroom

Corgan’s room will still be a nursery when he moves in, but will not be far from being used as a toddler’s room so I have designed the room with that in mind.  The main area of the room is 19’ x 12.5’ and will contain an alcove at one end to cozy up the room.  The room will have 12’ ceilings, except in the alcove which will only have 8’ ceilings.  The closet will have a mini-door with access to Annabelle’s closet on the other side of the wall.  The room will have a loft with ladder access, but will be off limits to Corgan for a few years.

Kids’ Bathroom

The kids will share an L-shaped bathroom.  This bathroom will be a renovation of the existing workshop bathroom plus an additional 3 or so feet from the current downstairs guest bathroom.  This borrowed space will force us to lose the clawfoot tub in the guest bathroom, but we had to do it in order to get the needed space for a full bath in the kids’ bathroom.  This new space will also allow us to create a hallway closet just outside of the kids’ bathroom.
